Build a world where learning is accessible to every child

Empower children by providing them with access to learn anything, anytime, anywhere!

Millions of children do not have access to learning!

Online learning is bound by a digital divide of infrastructure, accessibility, and affordability. It's heartbreaking to think that millions of children in India fall out of these bounds. Capacity constraints and high dropout rates also restrict learning. Further, there are last-mile challenges where programs like SWAYAM do not reach the children who need it the most.

Infrastructure

60% of students living in rural and urban areas are currently denied access to the internet. This creates a major divide when it comes to providing equal opportunities.

Affordability

The sad reality is that a vast majority of students, around 90%, do not have access to smartphones, making online education an unaffordable luxury

Access

The physical resources, information, and content that should be available to all are unfortunately inaccessible to many.

Last mile challenge

Despite the availability of programs like SWAYAM, many intended beneficiaries are not able to access them due to the last-mile challenges.

Capacity constraints

The teacher-student ratio in India is imbalanced, with the worst disparities seen in rural and secondary schools, where the ratio is a staggering 47:1.

Continuing Education

The dropout rate in schools is a cause for alarm, with the latest figures for 2021/22 showing a concerning rate of 14.6%.

Making learning accessible.

Ensuring accessible learning is essential in enabling anyone, regardless of location, to have the ability to access educational resources at any time. To achieve this goal, we recognize that the four fundamental pillars of Community, Content, Connectivity, and Computing are crucial elements that can aid us in making learning accessible. Together, these pillars form a solid foundation that can help bridge the gap between education and technology and promote equitable access to learning opportunities for all.

Content

More and more learning materials are being released under Creative Commons licenses, which allows them to be shared, used, and remixed freely. These Open Educational Resources (OER) now feature an increasing number of digital curricula.

Computing

The cost of hardware is decreasing much faster than the cost of Internet bandwidth; devices like the Raspberry Pi and low-cost Android tablets open up computing to more users than ever before.

Community

In today's digital age, the power of social networking cannot be overstated. With social media platforms connecting people from all corners of the globe, we have an unprecedented opportunity to leverage this connectivity and unleash the potential of a community of volunteers interested in helping us.

Connectivity

With limited internet connectivity, content and software can be distributed through existing human networks, carried on USB sticks and portable devices to be shared with others and accessed over local networks.

An Aggregation Platform

Discovery and distribution becomes an issue with varied content sources. We solve this by becoming an aggregation platform to ingest, curate and distribute these learning resources.

The story of Eklavya

Eklavya is a shining example of the power of self-learning. Through observation and practice, he became one of the greatest archers of his time, even without formal instructions from Dronacharya. While Dronacharya did not directly teach Eklavya, he provided the tools and content that allowed him to master his skills, by teaching the Pandavas. In today's world, many self-motivated learners like Eklavya are waiting for a mentor, like Drona, to provide them with the right tools and content for self-learning. With access to high-quality resources and guidance, these learners can unleash their potential and achieve greatness in their chosen fields. It's up to us to recognise and support these budding Eklavyas and help them become the best versions of themselves.

Learning over education

Learning goes beyond the traditional education. The Eklavya platform encourages self learning and provides varied curated content, tools and systems to help. Our AI/ML monitors and recommends appropriate content for aspirants to stay interested and progress.
